Choose your Wardrobe – The first thing that comes to mind when asked what to wear is lingerie. And that’s great, if wearing lingerie is your thing. If it isn’t, no worries. The main point of boudoir photography is for your beauty to shine through. It’s all about capturing your absolute best sexy, confident, powerful, beautiful self. And the best part is that it only requires you to be yourself. So wear whatever makes you feel confident! So if that’s a tight shirt and booty shorts, an oversized sweater,a button down or your birthday suit, wear it!
Pro-tip: Be sure to try on your outfit(s) prior to your session to ensure everything fits properly.
Don’t Forget Accessories – You’ve no-doubt heard the saying, the devil is in the details. Well, when it comes to your boudoir photo session, the detail is in the accessories. When thinking of what to wear, also think about what accessories will complement the outfit. The goal is to look polished and classy sexy. Think about what jewelry, shoes, props, etc will help you to meet that goal.
Pro-tip: After you have tried it on, pack anything you need to get it ready for your session at least one day in advance.
Hair and Makeup – You can never go wrong with hiring a professional to do your hair and makeup. A MUA will make sure that you look flawless and ready for your close up. And read this blog for details on why this could be one of the best decisions you make in regards to your boudoir photos.
Choose a Location – Do you have the perfect space in mind? If not, no worries, that’s where I come in. I love natural light, so a room with big windows is ideal. I have access to a boudoir studio at the Goat Farm. Or we can do the session at a hotel or in my private outdoor studio space. Contact me, let’s talk about the best location to get the photos you desire.
Exposure – During our pre-session consultation, we will discuss your comfort level surrounding exposure. Boudoir is about celebrating how beautiful you are today. And just like the song says “we don’t have to take our clothes off to have a good time.” Do whatever makes you feel your best.
Pre-Session Beauty Prep – We suggest getting a mani/pedi a few days prior to your session. If you wax, don’t forget to pencil that into your schedule, as well. As well as, getting your eyebrows shaped before your session.
Pro-tips: Lower your salt intake afew days before your session to avoid bloating. Also eat a light breakfast the morning of your session. Drink a lot of water leading up to your session for beautiful, healthy skin and get a good night’s rest the night before. Shave and moisturize for beautiful legs. Wear a clear deodorant. Don’t wear tight clothing, bras, panties, socks, etc. the morning of your session or driving to your session. These will leave red marks on your skin and we want you looking your best.
Relax – The most important thing you can do is relax. We will make sure you look amazing in your photos, so don’t worry! If you’re uncomfortable, it will show, so just keep calm.
Smile- Just remember the sexiest thing you can wear is a smile. Or not.
